โ Frequently Asked Questions
Q
How do I add a music file to RiffCatch?
Tap the "+" button and select a file from the Files app, iCloud Drive, or any connected storage. RiffCatch supports MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, and AAC formats.
Q
The audio stutters when I slow it down โ what should I do?
Extreme tempo reductions can be demanding on the device. Try closing other apps to free up memory and then reopen RiffCatch.
Q
How do I set an A-B repeat loop?
While a track is playing, the waveform display shows your position. Tap the "A" button at the start of the phrase you want to loop, then tap "B" at the end โ markers will appear on the waveform. You can drag those markers directly with your finger to fine-tune the start and end points without stopping playback. Tap "Clear" to reset.
Q
Can I export just the A-B loop section as its own file?
Yes โ this is a Premium feature. With an active Premium subscription, you'll see an option to export only the A-B region as a WAV or M4A clip. It's great for extracting a specific riff or phrase for repeated practice outside the app.
Q
What does the compressor do, and when should I use it?
The compressor evens out the volume differences in a track โ it raises quiet passages and softens louder ones. This is especially useful when trying to hear a subtle guitar line buried under a loud drum kit, or when the original recording has uneven dynamics that make some notes hard to catch.
Q
Does RiffCatch remember my settings for each song?
Per-track settings (tempo, pitch, EQ, A-B points, and effects) are saved automatically for Premium subscribers. On the free plan, settings are not saved per-track and will reset when you switch songs.
Q
Where are exported files saved?
When you tap the export button, a share sheet appears allowing you to choose a destination โ iCloud Drive, your Files app, or any other supported location.
Q
What are the EQ presets best suited for?
"Bass Boost" highlights low-end frequencies for picking out bass lines. "Vocal Focus" emphasizes the mid-high range for melodies. "Vocal Cancel" reduces the center channel to help you focus on the backing instruments.
Q
How do I cancel my Premium subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings โ tap your Apple ID at the top โ Subscriptions โ RiffCatch. You can cancel there at any time. Your Premium benefits remain active until the end of the current billing period.
Q
I subscribed to Premium but ads are still showing. What should I do?
After completing your App Store purchase, fully close and reopen RiffCatch. If ads persist, use the "Restore Purchases" option in the app. If the issue continues, please reach out via the contact form below.
Q
How do I remove a song from the playlist?
Swipe left on the track in your playlist to reveal the delete button, then tap it to remove.
